Here the cherry blossom which is white has to be indicated with blank paper. I do not use white body colour to indicate white petals, preferring the traditional method of blank paper left white which gives an airy delicate look. The butterfly, by contrast, looks quite dark against the sky and petals, and I wanted it to seem almost a remnant of winter, like one that has emerged from a long hibernation into the spring.
