“Journey” consists of three pieces of work I did for an exhibition called ‘Art in a box’. I used the word ‘journey’ because they are about the journey we are all on – the journey of life.

This box represents part of a ship’s hold, where fishing buoys are piled up and  stored.  When these are lost into the sea they become something not known or predictable over time, something rich and strange.  We cannot know what the future holds for us, nor what we will become, but hope we  might be,  in Shakespeare’s words,  something that is rich, and strange  and in some way beautified..  I have here encrusted these same luminous “buoys” with pearls and jewel-like beads, and stained the string rope with green ink like sea water.
